Blessed beyond belief.
While I miss my family & friends (my sis & Shoney dearly), I love my NY life.
A lesson for all:
“Each day I live, I want to be, a day to give, the best of me”
Growing up I listened to a lot of Whitney Houston. Mostly because my parents regulated what I was allowed to listen to and it was one of only five CD’s in my rotation. But looking back now, I’m actually happy it was. Her lyrics installed a lot of motivation and inspiration in me. I’m a big fan.
I think Whitney’s story can teach us...

Hmm, I’ve only ever been to Gramercy Tavern…
Time to add one to the list. Next up: River Cafe, this summer.

A renewal quote for 2012:
There comes a time in life, generally more than once, when you just have to let go, let things be just the way they are and find solace in the now. Look for the good and it will surely be found.
Hey there, 2012!
He
A new year is upon us. Do you have any resolutions?
Being a more patient person, traveling more and reading more are just a few of mine. Regardless of what yours are, let’s all vow to grab 2012 by the balls and make the best of it!
Love, health & happiness to all!!

5 more minutes
The other day I gave myself some extra time to get to work and you know what I discovered? It was awesome. It was only 5 extra minutes BUT it gave me more time to do a few things…
- enjoy the line up at Satrbucks
- wait an extra subway until one came with enough space to sit down
- time to get off one stop earlier and walk the few extra blocks.
The extra 5 mins put me in such a...

Let's do December
It’s been a while. What can I say? Work was insanely busy for the past little while, that any down time I did have, I didn’t spend writing.
Now that I’m back from a weeks vacation, I’m actually itching to write. So I decided, a post it is.
December is upon us, already! Although, I’m not mad it’s December, for I quite like the winter months. It’s just...

Happy, happy, joy, joy.
Long time; no blog.
In case you were wondering, I’ve been MIA due to 85+ hour work weeks – that yes, included weekends – which hasn’t left time for much else lately.
Luckily, I love my job.
And I’m definitely not complaining.
Just sad to not have attended as much of Advertising Week as I had wanted.
Or planned.
Or hoped, wished, wanted and dreamed.
So:
In honor of all who did make...
It's all good.

The 40-hour work week debate:
What a great read.
If I had more time to comment, I would.

The hummingbird does more than 'hum'.
Legends say that hummingbirds float free of time, carrying our hopes for love, joy and celebration. The hummingbird’s delicate grace reminds us that life is rich, beauty is everywhere, every personal connection has meaning and that laughter is life’s sweetest creation.
It's a milestone.
So now that I’ve just celebrated a “milestone” birthday, I thought I’d take a moment to reflect on the emotionally draining week I’ve experienced.
I always thought that by 30, I’d have the car of my dreams and an overwhelming supply of Louboutins to chose from. (and in case you’re wondering, I don’t even have a car, never mind the one of my dreams, and most of my shoes are from...

A weekend of reflection.
It’s the 10th Anniversary for 9/11 and you can feel the somberness in the air as the weekend approaches. With heightened security and NYPD everywhere, it’s hard to go about the day as if everything is fine. This morning, my commute proved eventful - subway’s packed with officers, anxious pedestrians and levels of traffic I hadn’t yet seen.
I want to take a moment to...

An August rant.
“It’s been done”.
“JWT in Brazil already did it”.
“That idea won a Clio three years ago”.
The list goes on…
I find so many of us are quick to dismiss ideas, and yet very few of us stop to try and bring something new to it.
I’m not talking about blatantly ripping off an idea that’s already been done and accepting it. I’m talking about when an idea happens to have a tiny similarity to another idea...

Do you call yourself creative?
Earlier this month I was interviewed by an intern here at the office. She wanted to know where my inspiration and creativity came from. I thought it was a good question. Often times I think us creative folk like to pretend that we don’t do things to spur creative thoughts and energy. That simple question inspired me to share how I get motivated and the places I turn to for creativity:
Twitter –...
To 'boss or not 'to boss
So another Cannes Lion festival comes to an end. And for those of you who were present for the festivities and fun, I’m jealous. For those of you like me, who held the fort down at home, there’s always next year.
Instead of sharing my favorite wins of the festival, I thought it could be fun to talk about some of the other benefits that come with the win of a Lion – because congratulatory...

When it comes to digital - what SheSays goes
Shortly after my move to the big apple last Spring, I decided I wanted to actively get involved in the ad industry in NYC. Having been spoiled by the ihaveanidea social network nights in Toronto, I sought the chance to do the same here; meet people, socialize and learn while doing it. Here’s the lesson I learned: If you are a female in the ad world and don’t know what SheSays is, shame on you. ...

I’m not sure if you’ve heard, but the D&AD just added a new pencil to its award list. Creatives can now win a White Pencil.
In an industry that better known for their extravagant lifestyles than for social conscience this award is crucial. It encourages us all to use our creative influences for the greater good, raising awareness about social, environmental and health issues around the...
NO RESTAURANTS? NO THANK-YOU.
I was quickly deleting emails form my junk box the other day and managed to catch a glimpse at the subject of one of them before it quickly vanished. The line was memorable, catchy and stopped me in my tracks. It was ‘imagine a city with no restaurants”, and it really got me to thinking about just that.
I for one am a recent ‘foodie”. Having spent years as a routine eater (I like what I like), I...

Mom's rules for life
I came across this old email from my late mother and thought it’d be a good Friday share. Enjoy, and pass along. My favorite is #11.

For serious
I have this habit of ripping my horoscope from the newspaper on days when it reads inspirationally. Last week was definitely one of those days:
LIBRA sept 23-oct 23
“Do something positive with your talents, something that boosts your status and reminds the world that you are someone to be taken seriously”.
Trust me horoscope, I’m trying.

A photographer's city indeed
My copy just arrived! NEW YORK: A Photographer’s City
A compilation of the city’s best captures from contemporary photographers from around the world. A great coffee table book for those who **heart** NYC.
Just another rainy day
I love rainy days. Mostly when they happen on weekends though. Not that I like to waste my weekends inside, but there’s nothing like waking up on a Saturday morning, hearing the patter of the rain outside and knowing that you don’t have to feel guilty about snuggling under the covers for a few more hours. Friends re-runs anyone?
I hate rain days when I have a dinner or cocktail...
Croatia Calls...
And the planning has begun. If you’ve got tips or must-see’s/do’s while in Dubronvik, Croatia or Barcelona, Spain, holler at your girl. I’m looking for a mix of great cultural stuff to do, amazing restaurants to try and fun nightlife hot spots.

The benefit of Benefit.
I have to say, BENEFIT is one awesome cosmetics line. Owned by twin sisters who first launched the line in San Francisco. Their mission: a new take on makeup; make it fun! And fun they did make it. The line has a great range of products for all your skin care and make up needs. Half the fun of buying Benefit products is browsing the shelves for items. They’re all beautifully designed and...
