It's that "KIND" of day

I was sitting on the train this morning, reading, JLO blaring from my headphones, when a man across from me started pointing at me.
What? Did I have a booger? Was I sitting in someone else’s seat.
I looked at him and just smiled.
Seconds later he was motioning again. I wiped my nose just to be sure there was nothing dangling from it and then finally, albeit a little annoyed by his consistent gesturing, removed my earphones and politely inquired about what he wanted.
“Yes, sir?”
“Um, you have a huge green caterpillar crawling on your shoulder.”
“Excuse me?”
“Your shoulder, you have a big green bug on it.”
“WHAT??”
I glanced to my left shoulder, and there, sparkling in the sunlight that was streaming through the window as though it were in the spotlight, was a huge, violently bright green caterpillar. It only took a second before I was out of my seat dancing in the aisle (ya, I’m scared of bugs, so what?)
Apparently my antics were amusing, because I had him in stitches. Then without my asking, he ever so kindly picked the caterpillar up and threw it down the aisle of the train on the floor. He then brushed off my seat as to double check that there were no other ones and then gestured for my return to it.
I looked around. No one else had looked up to see what was happening.
No one else cared that a caterpillar had been crawling on me?!
His gesture really touched me, (I know, it was just a caterpillar), but I think kindness is far and few between these days. Even more so when it’s exchanged between two strangers.
So I thank the kind man on the train, (a stranger to me). As I’m pretty sure he saved me from discovering that little green creature on my own accord (and thus everyone else on that train from blood curling screams).
Happy Wednesday, everyone. If anything, be kind today.
